We are likely projecting our own values and assumptions on what it means to own your own business. There are ways to be self-employed that do not require getting a business license, renting/buying property, or having other employees. Selling crafts at a holiday bazaar, or via an Etsy page are examples of self-employment. sometimes I hear providers say "but he's not going to make much money doing that." How do we know until we try? And secondly, you are projecting your own idea of how much income someone needs to earn.
